Changzhou Zhimu Spa: A Fusion of Art, Architecture and Human Beauty

Chuanjin Sun's Award-Winning Spa Design: A Sanctuary of Serenity and Sophistication

Chuanjin Sun's design inspiration for the Changzhou Zhimu Spa was the sharp edges and corners, the vigorous body, the thick material, and the light environment and texture. These elements come together to create an illusory, mysterious, and deep place. The internal space is developed from the design perspective of "internal architecture". The huge volume, the stacked thick concrete, and the angular outlines provide a purely rigid and beautiful space experience.

The main materials used in this project include Italian stone powder paint, thick aluminum plate powder coating, mirror stainless steel, stone, and LED screens. The lobby, walls, passages, reception areas, and other spaces are processed into hard square blocks, with warm gray stone powder paint finishes, and the scales of stacked stones on the walls, like mountains and rocks in the desert.

In the corner of the welcoming light, the stone-stacked stairs are covered by countless white thin steel strips from top to bottom, and then interwoven and wrapped to form a transparent space. This stands like a giant sculpture draped in tulle, faint and charming, transformed into a gentleness. The tea area, glass, screen, and light play between light and shadow. The dramatic effects of reflection and refraction are vividly displayed, creating a fuzzy three-dimensional depth space.

The project started in September 2019 in Changzhou and finished in April 2020. The design process was a journey of interpreting the essence of human beauty, breaking, superimposing, and reorganizing the concepts of human nature in the abstract sense of masculine and femininity to obtain more concrete spatial characteristics.

Chuanjin Sun's Changzhou Zhimu Spa is a testament to the transformative power of interior design. This sanctuary, located in Changzhou, China, is a masterful blend of art, architecture, and human beauty, offering a unique space that offsets the turbulent impetuousness and noise of the outside world. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
